About this event

Join MineralsEd and geologist Dr. Brian McNulty for a walk through beautiful Stanley Park, Vancouver, to explore the geological history and formations of the Stanley Park area. During this 3-hour guided tour participants will look for and examine evidence of rock-forming processes, surface processes, glaciation, and tectonic history of the area in an interactive and easy to understand way. This workshop is intended to provide teachers with the resources and know-how to conduct their own in-person or virtual Stanley Park GeoTour with their own classes and teachers will be provided a resource kit with relevant materials.

Participants will be responsible for their own transportation to/from Stanley Park. In order to maintain adequate social distance this field trip is limited to 8 participants, so register early!

Schedule: 8:30 am meet at Third Beach Concession Stand

Consideration: This is an outdoor field trip that involves some walking over unpaved and rocky and/or slippery surfaces. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy and comfortable shoes. Bring a camera, notebook and hand lens. There will be opportunities to collect samples, so bring a backpack (+ plastic bags/markers) for your samples. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available to participants during the tour, but we strongly encourage you to bring your own.

Food: Bring the snacks and drinks you will need for the day.

***This field trip is intended for BC K-12 Teachers. If you are not a BC K-12 teacher you will be moved onto the waitlist and only confirmed pending available room after registration closes***
